MAYOR GRAHAM RICHARD
I am sad to report that an important member of my administrative team, and a critical resource for Waynedale and other areas in southwest Fort Wayne, is moving on. Since January of 2000, Deb Morrone has served southwest Fort Wayne as the City’s Southwest Quadrant Neighborhood Specialist. In this position, Deb has been a team builder, problem solver and liaison for citizens living in southwest Fort Wayne. By assigning individual neighborhood specialists to each of the City’s four quadrants, my administration took a new approach to serving the specific needs of specific neighborhoods in our City. The hard work of Deb Morrone and our other neighborhood specialists has made this approach an unqualified success.
Fortunately, Deb’s new job will allow her to continue to share her talents and expertise with local residents. Deb has accepted a position as the Director of Training for the Regional Community Policing Institute at Taylor University and will begin her new job on Monday, November 12, 2001. She will coordinate workshops and training opportunities for law enforcement agencies, including federal, state and local branches. Additionally, Deb will continue her involvement with a project she began working on as a neighborhood specialist. She will remain part of the planning team organizing the Regional Network Neighborhood Conference in Fort Wayne in October 2002.
We are seeking recommendations from southwest Fort Wayne residents about who should replace Deb. Ideal candidates will live in southwest Fort Wayne, be 18 years or older and have a valid Indiana driver’s license. The person that we hire will work as a liaison between my office and citizens of Fort Wayne. The successful applicant also will work directly with me, City Council members, City departments, local businesses and various community organizations.
