4TH GRADE CLASSES GO BACK IN TIME TO PIONEER DAYS
The 4th grade classes of St. Joseph-St. Elizabeth Catholic School are going back in time! On Friday, March 12th, the students of Stephanie Boss and Brittany Jones will be having their annual “Pioneer Day.” On this day, the students, teachers and volunteer parent helpers all dress in 19th century pioneer dress. The students will try their hand at activities that their Pioneer-era peers would have done – writing with a quill pen, needlework, tin punch, stenciling, indoor games and a craft called “quilling” that uses thin strips of paper.
The students rotate in small groups to different centers for the various activities, between 9:15 and 11:35 p.m. A second session of activities continues again between 12:05 to 1:15 p.m. After lunch — where the students eat similar food to what pioneer children would have eaten– there will be a square dance with a real square dance caller. The square dancing will take place in the Parish Activity Center/gym between 1:20 to 2:20 p.m.
St. Joseph-St. Elizabeth Catholic School is located at 10700 Aboite Center Road, at the corner of Aboite Center and Homestead Roads. Visitors can enter through the school entrance doors and check in with the school secretary.
