A few weeks ago, Waynedale Green Alliance, LTD took part in the Green City Business Certification Program at the Botanical Conservatory that is being conducted by the City of Fort Wayne.

The Green Business Program is directed towards small to large sized businesses. Speakers are available on pollution prevention, solid waste reduction, energy conservation and water conservation.

Waynedale Green Alliance received a packet that contained a checklist to target the above areas, guides to Energy and Water Conservation, an Allen County Waste Watcher, information on tax deductions, a chart for reading water meters, and access to programs that can enable us to track our overall energy usage.

A mentor is provided to each business and upon completion of the checklist, program participants are recognized by the City of Fort Wayne as a Certified Green Business. They are then given a Green City logo that can be utilized as part of their marketing program.

The best part of the Green Business Program? It is 100% Free~!

And participants are recognized as green community leaders who will leave a lasting impact on the Fort Wayne community for decades to come.

As the originators of the 1st Green Festival in Northeast Indiana, I was impressed by the program.

The 1st Green Festival in Northeast Indiana took place right here in Waynedale in partnership with the Southwest Conservation Club and we had over 50 participating organizations. Waynedale is front and center in Fort Wayne when it comes to green.

It is a good first step for the City of Fort Wayne and I believe the businesses of Waynedale could profit by getting involved.
