CONGRATULATIONS TO “SOUP-ER HERO” WINNERS!
Canstruction® Fort Wayne winners have been announced! This annual nationwide competition features students using “art, design, math and problem solving skills to create fantastic, innovative structures using unopened cans of food. Students give back to the community by donating the food.” In the 2018 competition, 59,185 pounds of food were raised and distributed throughout the region to help feed vulnerable families. This was the 10th largest Canstruction collection in the nation.
This year, 11 schools participated. An amazing 61,360 cans were collected in total, along with $662 through online donations for voting.

“Canstruction is a wonderful event because it combines hunger relief initiatives with healthy competition, creativity, and community engagement. Thanks to everyone who worked so hard on these projects, thousands of families will benefit from a healthy meal.”
The annual competition took place at Glenbrook Square Mall in Fort Wayne through May 5th. Next year’s theme hasn’t yet been chosen, but Community Harvest is sure it will be a crowd pleaser.
