CARL EDWARD LOEW, 89

CARL EDWARD LOEW, 89, of Fort Wayne, died Tuesday, March 4, 2008, at Saint Anne Home & Retirement Community. Born February 25, 1919, in Payne, Ohio, he was a charter member of St. Therese Catholic Church. He graduated from St. Joseph High School, Hessen Cassel; was a World War II Army veteran serving in the Pacific Theater and working in communications. He had reached the rank of Master Sergeant. He was first employed by Home Telephone Company which later became GTE where he worked for 38 years, retiring in 1984. He held many titles while there including Truck Maintenance Worker, Lineman, Installer, PBX and System Inspector. He was a member of St. Vincent dePaul Society, American Legion 296, Holy Name Society, Telephone Pioneers of America, and was a founding Board member of GTE Credit Union.

Surviving are his daughters, Rose (Roger) Yeager of Rochester, N.Y. and Joanne Loew of Tucson, Arizona; sons, Robert (Tammy) Loew of Lafayette and James (Sally) Loew of Fishers; sister, Marie Rorick of Fort Wayne; and seven granddaughters.

He was preceded in death by his wife, Violet F. Loew, in 2006; son, Edward John Loew; and brother, Arthur Loew.

Mass of Christian Burial was Saturday, March 8, 2008 at St. Therese Catholic Church, 2304 Lower Huntington Road, Fort Wayne, with visitation one hour prior. Visitation was Friday, March 7, 2008 at Elzey Patterson Rodak Home For Funerals, 6810 Old Trail Road, Fort Wayne, with Rosary service also Friday. Burial in Catholic Cemetery, Fort Wayne.
