WAYNE BASEBALL: IN SEASON – PART 2
The season has reached the halfway point and Varsity sits atop the SAC with a 6-1 conference record and a 10-4 record overall. The team has won 8 of 9 games. They won against North Side twice 8-5 and 2-1. They then beat Canterbury 9-8 and Luers 5-3. The team then went onto split a DH against Angola winning 7-3 and losing 14-1. They defeated South Side 3-2 and 7-6. Finally they beat Manchester 13-10.
The most outstanding performances in these games were Nick Hyuck who went 8 innings against North Side with 12K 3 H 1 ER. Kaine Jackson went 4-4 with 3 RBI against Canterbury. Hyuck gave up 3 H 2 ER and had 18K in the first game against South Side. Jackson had 16K and went 4-4 with 2 doubles in the second game against South Side. Tristan Byall picked up 2 wins on the mound giving up only 5 ER and had 12K.
The prime performers for varsity have been Nick Hyuck who is 4-0 with 1 SV a 1.17 ERA with 50K in 30 innings, Kaine Jackson who has a .476 BA with 9 doubles and 14 RBI, Braxton Riley who has a .390 BA with RBI, Tristan Byall has a 3.57 ERA and a .333 BA, Joey Brown has a .412 BA and Matt McCullough is 2-0 with a 0.00 ERA and 8K in 9 innings.
The junior varsity has made strides in the right direction. They lost five more games in a row making them 0-10 before they pulled off two wins in a row; they currently sit at 2-10. JV lost a DH to East Noble 4-0 and 6-0 then lost to Luers 16-0 and lost another DH to Angola 7-2 and 7-6. They defeated Manchester 13-2 and Concordia 9-8. The most outstanding performances from these games were Brian Howell who had 12K versus Angola, Jose Reina and James Lewis had 6 extra base hits in last three games and Jacob Fisher had 4 RBI against Concordia.
The prime performers for junior varsity have been Tay Tay Moore who has a .375 BA with 11 SB, Bryson McKee who has 8 RBI, Brian Howell has a 2.62 ERA with 18K and a .647 OBP, Jacob Moreno has 3 quality starts on the mound and Jacob Fisher continues his great glove work.
