KORJENCK WON FIRST HIGH SCHOOL TOURNAMENT
It was a Summit League Class 2A Boys High School Golf program coached by Tom O’Brien that kept Joe Korjenck searching for that win.
And win he did!
Korjenck won his first ever high school golf tournament. Standing proud this young sophomore from Bishop Luers, won the Brookwood Shootout on Saturday, April 13, 2012.
He shot varsity golf at Bishop Luers High School as a part-time player starting out his freshman year. And then, totally dedicating himself to the great sport of golf, Joe spent his entire summer playing any tournament he could get his hands on including Indiana State tournaments (IGA) and many of the local park and rec tournaments.
Korjenck’s unbelievable work ethic all summer-and all winter-paid off—already!
Looking back at the game last Saturday, you could say Korjenck won when he birdied a most-memorable hole No. 18 for a one over Par 73 at Brookwood.
He hit 11 fairways in regulation including driving the uphill 308 yard Par 4 for a 2-putt birdie from 15 feet. Korjenck had a hot putter all day, needing only 26 putts.
He and Senior Captain Parker Watts (79) led Luers to a solid 2nd place team finish. DeKalb won the team portion with a strong 314.
IHSAA Boys Golf Sectional meet is scheduled for Brookwood Golf Course starting Friday, June 1, Saturday, June 2 and ending on Monday, June 4, 2012. Bishop Dwenger, Bishop Luers, Blackhawk Christian, Canterbury, Concordia Lutheran, Northrop, North Side, Snider, South Side, Wayne, Heritage, New Haven, and Woodlan are expected to participate.
