MOUNT CALVARY LUTHERAN INSTALLS NEW PASTOR
Rev. Glenn Meyer was installed as the Senior Pastor of Mount Calvary Lutheran Church on Sunday May 16, 2010 in an afternoon service. Rev. Dr. Dan May, President of the Indiana District LCMS performed the installation and preached the sermon. Rev. Douglas Punke, Pastor of Zion Lutheran Church and South Fort Wayne Circuit Counselor was the Liturgist.
Also participating in the service were Mount Calvary Praise Team, Adoration Choir, Joyful Sounds Bell Choir, and Lutheran South Unity School Junior Choir. Douglas Reynolds was the organist and Jennifer, Aaron, Micah, and Zachary Reynolds were the instrumentalists.
Rev. Glenn Meyer was born in Columbus, Nebraska on September 19, 1956, and comes from a long line of Christian farmers. His parents, Henry and Velda now live in Hadar, Nebraska. He is the oldest of eleven children. He graduated from Concordia Teachers College, Seward, NE in 1977 with a Lutheran elementary teaching degree. He then attended Concordia Theological Seminary, Fort Wayne, graduating in 1981.
During his seminary years he was a field worker at Emmanuel Lutheran Church on Wayne Trace.
Since his seminary graduation and ordination, Pastor Meyer has served congregations in Independence, MO, Creston, IA, and Glendale WI.
God has blessed Pastor Meyer, and his wife Sue, with three children, who are Anna, Rachel, and Timothy.
Pastor Meyer has served as a Circuit Counselor in both Iowa West, and South Wisconsin. He has served on boards for Iowa West District, Lutheran Special School of Milwaukee, Concordia University, Wisconsin, and most recently for the Lutheran High School Association of Greater Milwaukee.
Pastor Meyer had a daily devotional radio ministry in Creston, IA. He has had the privilege of being involved with the Pastoral Leadership Institute (PLI) visiting churches throughout the U.S. He and his wife Sue went on a mission trip to Hong Kong and mainland China in January of 2006.
The entire Meyer family has a heart for missions. Anna and Tim have served in Indonesia. Anna has served in Taiwan and mainland China. Rachel has worked in Mexico and Brazil. Pastor Meyer and Rachel also were part of a LAMP mission in Canada to the Onion Lake Cree Nation.
