TRISTATE BLUEGRASS TO HOLD LABOR DAY WEEKEND FESTIVAL

If you haven’t made plans yet to attend the TriState Bluegrass Festival over Labor Day weekend, there is still time. Surprise your family with a low-cost, family-friendly vacation. Campers and bluegrass music lovers from far and wide will be converging on the Noble County Fairgrounds in Kendallville to enjoy music, camping and renewing friendships.

Even if camping isn’t your thing, plan to go for the day and enjoy several hours of top-notch bluegrass bands on stage and wander the grounds to watch the nearly 24/7 parking lot pickin’ that TriState is famous for.

A weekend ticket ($35 for adults, children 15 and under are free) will get you stage shows on Thursday and Friday nights, shows all day Saturday and Sunday, plus all workshops, kids’ activities, and camping for Friday through Sunday nights. There is a $10 per night charge for camping if you arrive before Friday, and a one-time $10 electric fee.

Bands for this fall include Grascals, Nightflyer, Trinity River Band, Grasstowne, Danny Paisley and the Southern Grass, Calabogie Road, Out of Mind Bluegrass, Zellie’s Band, Hogslop String Band, Finley River Boys, and Guncreek. Something for everyone; guaranteed!

Still not sure if bluegrass is your thing? Go on Thursday night, August 30, for FREE to check it out! As part of their commitment to sharing the “bluegrass experience” with the community, and to thank Kendallville for hosting their twice-yearly festivals for the last 28 years, there will be stage shows all evening and you are free to wander the grounds to listen to the campers’ jams. Bring your bluegrass acoustic instrument and join in!

TriState Bluegrass Festival is hosted by the Northern Indiana Bluegrass Association, a 501(c)3 non-profit organization. All proceeds from their festivals go to promoting bluegrass music and education through scholarships, free school and community concerts/programs, workshops, and educational materials. NIBGA also sponsors monthly jams during the winter months which are free and open to the public.

These events are staffed solely by volunteers who spend many hours, year-around, planning and implementing the festivals.
