AMVETS POST 33 RAISING FUNDS FOR CHILDREN WITH SPECIAL NEEDS

On Saturday June 23rd, the Amvets Post 33 Riders Group (a not for profit organization) will be proudly hosting the “10th annual Special Children with Special Needs for American Veterans” to raise funds to help military families with special needs children in our community. This year’s activities will include a car/ bike/ truck show, bake sale, food, entertainment, activities for kids, poker run, silent auction, door prizes and much more.

Over the past 10 years, this annual benefit has raised several thousands of dollars to help local military families with special needs children. There was a new car, truck and bike show incorporated last year and it has grown exponentially in just one year! One category in the show is a kid’s car category. Kids can bring their favorite power wheels, go-carts, or any other vessel that they like to cruise around in and enter it into the show.

There are many great items in the auction including $1000 in BFGoodrich tires, a peg perego john deer tractor (battery operated), Harley Davidson cast iron fire ring, brand new carpet cleaner, and so much more!

Last year this benefit was able to raise just over $2,000 and anticipates doubling that amount this year. In the past, funds raised have helped parents with money for gas and lodging to Riley’s Children hospital. Every year, this event pays to send one child to a horse therapy camp, and last year they were even able to provide another child with a lift kit for their wheel chair.

“We seek local military families in need of things to help their special needs children.” Commented Teresa Enea the Event Organizer

This is a free event to attend, however, food will be $6 per person, the poker run (includes food) is $15 per person or $20 per couple. There will be various baked goods for sale and fantastic items in the auction to bid on. It is open to the public and all are welcome! The auction and bake sale will be open at noon and closes at 5:30pm. The car show and food will be running from 3pm until 6pm.

“ALL proceeds go to this fund and stay local. We are not a large group, but we are mighty in our mission.”
