THIS YEAR’S LIGHT OF LEARNING RECIPIENT MRS. AMY BOWMAN
On November 11 at the end of the All School Mass, Saint Elizabeth Ann Seton Catholic School Principal Lois Widner announced this year’s recipient for the diocesan Light of Learning Award and it is 5th grade teacher Mrs. Amy Bowman. Principal Widner described Bowman as meeting all the criteria for the award, as well as being positive, cheerful, Christ-like, an excellent communicator, an outstanding educator and “a gem.”
To a rousing applause, Mrs. Bowman came up to the front of the church to receive several gifts in honor of the Light of Learning Award. On her way to the front of the church, she met both of her parents and three of her four children, who surprised her with their presence.
“This just made my day!” an excited Mrs. Bowman said.
Mrs. Bowman has taught at Saint Elizabeth Ann Seton Catholic School for three years. Prior to this teaching assignment, she taught at St. Jude Catholic School and St. Joseph Hessen Cassel Catholic School.
Mrs. Bowman attended Indiana University Pursue University Fort Wayne and majored in elementary education.
In January 2017, Mrs. Bowman will attend a special luncheon with Bishop Kevin Rhoades that honors all the Light of Learning Award recipients from the Fort Wayne area Catholic schools.
