APPALACHIAN TRAIL SPEED RECORD HOLDER MAKES APPEARANCE
World Class ultra-marathoner and New York Times Best Selling author of Eat and Run, Scott Jurek, recently broke the Appalachian Trail Speed record on a Sunday afternoon. Jurek’s time of 46 days, 8 hours and 8 minutes surpassed the previous record by about 3 hours. The Appalachian Trail Speed route covers 1,289 miles stretching from Georgia to Maine.
A seven-time consecutive winner of the Western States 100-miler, two-time champion of the Badwater 135 mile Ultramarathon, and the three-time consecutive winner of the 153 mile Greece Spartathalon; Jurek can now add another accomplishment to an already substantial list.
In 2016, Jurek will make his first appearance in Fort Wayne, Indiana at the Fort Wayne Track Club’s Annual Meeting and Banquet as the keynote speaker on “Going the Distance” and as host of a public run the morning of the banquet.
