LIMITED OPENINGS AVAILABLE FOR THE BILL SMITH GOLF OUTING
One of the longest running charity golf tournaments in Indiana will enter its 32nd year on May 21st under the sponsorship of Fort Wayne’s Central Lions Club.
The “Better Vision for Northeast Indiana” project has raised almost $500,000 on behalf of agencies serving people with sight impairments. Benefiting from the proceeds of the annual tournament, known as The Bill Smith Golf Outing, include Matthew 25, League for the Blind and Disabled, Northeast Indiana Radio Reading Service and Leader Dogs for the Blind.
Bill Smith, a past president of the Central Lions Club, was the recipient of a Leader Dog, a gift he was to return many times over due to his successful business career.
Dave Fiandt, chair of this year’s event at the Autumn Ridge Golf Course, said the Lions Club continues to live up to the challenge presented by Helen Keller in 1925 who urged Lions to become her “Knights of the Blind in the Crusade Against Darkness.”
Fiandt said there remain a limited number of openings for golfers to participate, if interested please call 260-402-1506.
