This novel focuses on Rebecca and her lawyer husband Peter, who is working for the state of Georgia to prosecute a doctor who runs an abortion clinic. The lawsuit exposes what happens to the babies who survive abortions and what kind of rights they’re entitled to. During the time the case is going on, Rebecca and Peter also find themselves expecting a child, and readers are given insight into Rebecca’s emotional turmoil while she comes to grips with what this new addition will mean.
This story has an agenda, but it does not come off as a lecture or a sermon. Instead, by presenting characters passionate about their ethical beliefs and a story that is realistic in the way it examines all aspects of the abortion issue, we have drama working as a teaching tool.
