WAYNE BASEBALL: IN SEASON – PART 3

Wayne-Generals-Baseball-Team-of-WeekGoing into the final week of the season Varsity is still on top of the SAC with a 9-1 conference record. They sit 13-7 overall.

Wane TV and FWO named the Generals the Team of the Week as they are on the verge of winning their first SAC title in 21 years.

Wayne Generals traveled to play a good Woodland team and lost 9-3. The varsity rebounded winning at home and on the road against Snider. At home they won 4-3 in 9 innings and on the road they won 20-9. Next up was the East Noble double header, the team came out strong in both games but the hitting didn’t last as they lost both games 14-8 and 21-11.

After multiple rain outs the Parkview Field game finally came as they went up against Luers. The bats started slow but came to life in the sixth as they scored three runs to put the game away winning 4-1. The most outstanding performances in these games were by Nick Hyuck who went 8 innings in game 1 versus Snider and had a walk off hit. Also, Braxton Riley went 3-4 and scored the winning run.

In game 2 versus Snider, Hyuck had 3 hits including a grand slam and 6 RBI, Tristan Byall had 3 hits and 4 RBI as Riley and Zach Ryan had 4 hits each. Kaine Jackson had a home run in game 2 at East Noble. At Parkview, Jacob Charles was hit by a pitch, had 2 stolen bases and scored on an over throw to jump start the team. Byall threw a complete game allowing 1 run.

The junior varsity has a 4-13 as the roller coaster continued. The team came out and dominated game 1 of the double header against South Side winning 15-3 but lost game two 4-3. Then the JV fell apart and lost to Dwenger 14-2 and Leo 21-6. The night after the Leo game the team regrouped and beat South Adams 17-7.

The most outstanding performances in these games were by Eddie Elder who had 4 hits including a HR and 7 RBI, Jacob Fisher had 3 hits and Jose Reina threw a complete game 3 hitter and had 11 strikeouts in game 1 versus South Side. Deyonne Hunter went 5 innings giving up no hits and had 11 strikeouts in game two versus South Side but suffered the loss. Against South Adams, Reina and Andre Stribling reached base 5 times each, while Fisher and James Lewis reached base 4 times each. Those 4 combined for 12 RBI and 11 runs scored.
