FEBRUARY NATURE EVENTS AT LRWP
Little River Wetlands Project, a local nature organization protecting almost 1,200 acres of natural and restored wetlands near Fort Wayne and Huntington, offers interesting and informative nature events this February. All are free and open to the community.
Every Tuesday in February: 9 a.m. to 11 a.m. “Little River Ramblers.”
Meet at the Boy Scout office parking lot, end of Olde Canal Place Drive (opposite Lutheran Hospital entrance on W. Jefferson Blvd., Fort Wayne) to hike and explore Eagle Marsh’s interesting plants and wildlife.
Thursday, February 9, 8 a.m. to 10 a.m. “Introducing FrogWatch USA.”
Light breakfast and nature presentation for nature lovers 50+ at Coventry Meadows Senior Community on W. Jefferson Blvd., Fort Wayne. Join us as Indiana Master Naturalist Russ Voorhees explains the citizen scientist program “FrogWatch USA.” Discover why monitoring amphibians is so important for the future health of our environment. Learn to identify NE Indiana’s 11 frog and toad species by their mating calls, and find out how you can get involved in the 2012 count.
Tuesday, February 28, 12:30 p.m. to 1:30 p.m. “Do You Want to Be a Preserve Steward?”
Meet at the Aboite Library, 5630 Coventry Lane, Fort Wayne. Like to be out in nature? Learn how you can help monitor and care for a LRWP preserve.
