COMFORT KEEPERS HAS A NEW HOME
It is fitting for a company that helps seniors stay in their own homes, to move their office from an office complex near Parkview North Hospital to a renovated farmhouse, here in Waynedale. When Comfort Keeper owners Julia & Matt Anders saw this home, they knew it was just what they were looking for. Well… almost, anyway. The home needed some TLC, so they hired a contractor who got to work painting and remodeling.
“Our office staff really love the home, and since I picked out the paint colors, I was a bit anxious, but it turned out really pretty,” said Julia Anders. She adds, “We still have some work to do. Next summer we want to tear down the front porch and add a new porch and maybe even a porch swing.
Comfort Keepers celebrated their tenth anniversary in business last September. In the past 10 years they have assisted thousands of seniors and others who were recovering from illness or surgery with their in-home care. Comfort Keepers assists with all the tasks that keeps a household running such as housekeeping, meal preparation, laundry, transportation and errand services. Their caregivers also assist with personal care needs such as bathing, toileting, transferring and medication reminders.
Comfort Keepers provide “Heart to Heart” caregiving. They get to know their clients and find out how they want things done.
“We have known from the first day we opened our doors, that we are a guest in our client’s home. We are not there to take over,” said Julia Anders. “As seniors age, they lose their independence, our goal is to help them hold on to it!”
Comfort Keepers allow their clients to participate in their care. Comfort Keepers offers 2-hour to 24-hour care. “We know that every client is different, their needs are different, their budget is different. I meet with our clients to set up a plan that meets those needs,” adds Brenda Tunin, R.N. and director of Client Care.
Comfort Keepers caregivers go through at least 3 interviews with owner Julia Anders making the final decision whether or not an applicant is hired. “We do not allow any criminal record, no felonies or misdemeanors. We look for a person that has a servant’s heart, someone who truly wants to make a difference in the lives of our clients,” Anders adds. Comfort Keepers pulls a nationwide criminal background check on every employee as well as a driving record check.
Comfort Keepers is approved by Aging and In-Home Services to provide Choice, SSBG and Title 3-E. They are on the provider list and you can choose Comfort Keepers to provide your in-home care. Comfort Keepers accepts private pay and is also Medicaid Waiver certified and provides respite as well as providing non-medical care for hospice clients.
