ANNUAL HORSE PULL COMPETITION

Individuals from near and far come to Swiss Days in order to watch horses compete in the annual Heavyweight Horse Pull and Miniature Horse Pull competitions. Onlookers watch as teams of draft horses-Belgians and Percherons-from several different states pull weighted sleds and compete for top prize money.

There are no entry fees to participate in the horse pull and prize money totaling $1,500 is available for winners in the Heavyweight Horse Pull competition. Prize money totaling $500 will be given to the winners of the Miniature Horse Pull. Additional trophy awards include: “Best Matched Team,” “Best Dressed Team,” and “Best Pulled & Handled Team.”

The Horse Pull and Miniature Horse Pull will take place east of the American Legion Post #468 on Berne Street Extended. The Heavyweight Horse Pull begins on Saturday, July 30 at 10 am and is followed at approximately noon by the Miniature Horse Pull.

There will be free admission to the event. Also, concessions will be provided by “Delightfully Homemade” Lunch Stand and CHUBS Lemon Smoothie Drinks.
