LETTER TO THE PUBLISHER
Friday, Nov. 13, 2009
Dear Publisher:
Few things bring a community together like good food and a great local newspaper. Often, they accompany one another – the newspaper nourishing the mind and the soul at the same table where the food is nourishing the body.
So congratulations are definitely in order to Cindy Cornwell and her entrepreneur son, Alex, on both accounts. As a visitor attending the recent Flavor of Fall event, I enjoyed a truly delicious atmosphere, where the fellowship seemed as irresistible as the wide variety of soups served. Flavor of Fall was an event that seemed to bring different generations together – and for such a wonderful cause. Obviously hearts are as warm as kitchens in your community.
Likewise, as an interested observer of The Waynedale News, I think the variety and hometown seasoning of information and articles is just as flavorful. I used to own and operate a weekly newspaper in New Castle years ago. We tried to offer the reader material they couldn’t get anywhere else. Your newspaper makes me smile and remember those days.
I appreciate how much hard work goes into planning an event like Flavor of Fall and know first-hand the number of hours it takes to run a hometown newspaper like The Waynedale News. I think the Fort Wayne area is blessed to have such good community-minded people.
