CHARLES R. MCCLAIN, 81
CHARLES R. MCCLAIN, 81, Ossian, passed away on Saturday, November 7, 2009 at Bluffton Regional Medical Center. Born on March 14, 1928 to the late Gerald and Ruth (Grissel) McClain. He was a native of Fort Wayne. He graduated from South Side High School. After school he served in the Navy aboard the battleship “USS Wisconsin.” After being discharged from the Navy he attended Purdue University and graduated with honors from a two-year course in “Drafting and Mechanical Technology.” He worked at General Electric for 35 years and retired in 1989. He enjoyed furniture crafting, other woodworking projects, and the Yankees.
He is survived by his wife of 61 years, Elenor (Dickmeyer) McClain of Ossian, two sons, Michael and Stuart (Theresa) McClain, both of Ossian. Three grandchildren, two great grandchildren and two step grandchildren. He was also preceded in death by a brother, Gene McClain.
Family graveside services will be held at a later date at Oak Lawn Cemetery.
