“OPINION”
Political opinions more often than not are kept to the person who has that opinion. Why? People are scared of the repercussions that society may place upon them to have one. Why is it when we sit in a large group of people, someone asks a general question about healthcare or about free choice, the majority of the people lock up like someone is about to arrest them if they say the wrong thing according to society or the majority of the group.
When did we as a people decide to sit back and let the loud voices in this country be the only ones to be heard. This is our country; we the people hold all the power. We decide who is president and who makes the laws in this country, not special interest groups or lobbyists. Why do we sit back and watch things that we don’t agree with happen and then accept them even though it may shake and grind us down to the fabric of who we are and what we stand for?
I will tell this to everyone out there who sits and locks up. I bet that the other people around that are sitting locked up just like you probably have the same thoughts, views, and fire inside about what is going on. They just need motivation. Why not be that motivator. Most people don’t have the strength to stand alone.
If we all just started giving more of our opinion and asking the right questions to our government and stop being scared, then maybe there is a light at the end of this tunnel. Or maybe we just have to turn one on!
The spirit of resistance to government is so valuable on certain occasions, that I wish it always to be kept alive.
