MAYOR HENRY SIGNS DISABILITIES AWARENESS PROCLAMATION
To mark the occasion of March as Disabilities Awareness Month, Mayor Tom Henry signed a proclamation recognizing Disabilities Awareness Month at Turnstone Center for Disabled Children and Adults, 3320 N. Clinton St., Fort Wayne.
The event was sponsored by the Northeast Indiana Disability Advocacy Coalition, whose members include area support groups and service providers working on behalf of individuals with disabilities. Witnessing the signing were families and clients from these Coalition member groups:

Indiana’s Governor’s Council for People with Disabilities leads the statewide effort to increase awareness and promote independence, integration and inclusion of all people with disabilities during Disability Awareness Month. Celebrating its 19th year, the theme for 2009 is Disable the Label. Displays and information can be found at the downtown Allen County Public Library, all branch libraries and the Convention and Visitors Bureau.
