KOOMLER GETS CO-FRESHMAN OF THE YEAR HONORS AT MANCHESTER
Paige Koomler, former Wayne High School soccer standout continues to shine at Manchester College. The freshman forward has scored 13 goals on the season, netting 31 points, both ranking her third in the conference this fall. With a team leading shot percentage of 29.5%, and a total of 4 game winning goals, Koomler was named the HCAC conference freshman of the year, along with first team all-conference honors. Manchester earned the fourth seed in the HCAC women’s soccer tournament but failed to win it all.
A high point in Paige’s freshman year came when she scored her first of three goals in a game against Defiance College on October 24. She gave Manchester College a 2-0 lead in the 40th minute of play on a penalty kick. Freshman Stacey Jerke scored the Spartans third goal of the game in the 47th minute of playoff a Miranda Ford assist to give Manchester a 3-0 lead. Koomler scored her third goal of the game and 13th of the season at the 53rd minute mark to give Manchester the 4-0 win.
