THAT’S THE WAY I SAW IT
WRITERS SAY YOU HAVE TO READ BETWEEN THE LINES
As you read different newspapers it is amazing how writers believe they can predict baseball’s future and how George Steinbrenner will react to situations.
Hal Bodley had an article in the USA Today that says,” Trade for Rodriquez Turns Up Heat On Torre.” As Bodley stated,”…pity Joe Torre. Will this great manager be able to work his magical touch to douse the flames as he has so well in the past?”
That same year, 2004 Dan Batard of the Miami Herald wrote,” It’s fun watching the Yankees fall apart. Yanks top list of guaranteed contracts worth $2.8 B. All George Steinbrenner has bought himself is an enormous amount of grief.”
True, the Yankees haven’t won the World Series since the procurement of Rodriquez, but Torre is still on the job at this time. It’s funny how writers tell us you have to read between the lines. Is there ever a follow up stating, “I was certainly wrong.”
However, that’s the way they operate.
