THAT’S THE WAY I SAW IT
EVEN MLB CAN’T GET IT RIGHT
In the October issue of Baseball Digest, on page 6 was an article about MLB umpires and their sons that also umpired in the Major Leagues.
There is a story here, but you won’t see it in the national media.
A letter to Baseball Digest with their reply on page 6 of the December issue stated that the 2005 issue of Major League Umpire Media Guide had not mentioned that Ray DiMuro, son of Lou DiMuro had umpired in the Major Leagues. Actually, Baseball Digest was telling me that I didn’t know what I was talking about.
I sent them a copy of the book Umpires, which lists Ray DiMuro as umpiring in the American League in 1996. Also a newspaper article stating that Ray and Mike DiMuro were the first brothers to umpire the same game together.
Like I said before, there is a story here. If you write the Baseball Commissioner’s office about an umpire they never answer your letters. If they do give you information it may not be right. This is the last we will hear of this and that’s the way I saw it.
