E. K. NEWMAN JR., 79, of Fort Wayne, died Saturday, June 19, 2004, at his residence. Born July 15, 1924, in Exeter, VA, he was a truck driver for Wolf & Dessauer and later L. S. Ayres & Co., retiring in 1986 after 33 years.
Survivors include his wife, Gloria Newman; daughters, Denelda Jo Newman of Portland, Princess Newman of Fort Wayne and Watanna Brown of West Memphis, Ark.; son, E.K. (Rachel) Newman III of Fort Wayne; stepson, Grenda Harmer of Only, TN; brother, Carl Newman of Gate City, VA; sister, Christina Pennington of Big Springs, CA; and several grandchildren and great-grandchildren.
He was preceded in death by his daughter, Melody Newman; and son, Rodney Newman.
Memorial service was Tuesday, June 22 at First Pentecostal Church, 935 Farwood Ave. Arrangements by Klaehn, Fahl & Melton Funeral Homes, Winchester Road Chapel, 6424 Winchester Road.
