ELMHURST WINS SECTIONAL

Elmhurst won against Norwell, Friday and then upset #2 Tippecanoe Valley on Saturday, March 6th to win the Class 3A Sectional at Wayne High School. Elmhurst Coach Keith Edmonds has the Trojans playing well going into the Regional Tournament that is scheduled for Saturday, March 13th, 10am at Northwood in Napanee, Indiana. The Trojans will play against Northridge High School with a record of 15 wins and 8 losses. Elmhurst is 15 and 7.

Elmhurst’s first sectional game against Norwell was a very tough contest from the opening tip-off, through to the final buzzer. Elmhurst’s #42, Brian Smith finally closed the deal by making a pair of free throws with 9.9 seconds left on the clock.

Elmhurst was an underdog in the Saturday game against Tippecanoe Valley. James Hardy hit three 3-pointers and three foul shots in the fourth to stop a rally by Tippecanoe.

Hardy was named to this year’s all SAC team with honorable mention going to Chad Edmonds and Brandon Stucky.

To get to Northwood High School, take 30 west to Warsaw, 15 north to US 6, 6 west to Nappanee, and 19 north to Northwood High School. Elmhurst plays the first game at 10am. If they win, the evening game starts at 8pm.
