HEAD COACH AND ATHLETIC DIRECTOR-WAYNE HIGH SCHOOL
Murray Mendenhall has coached at Wayne High School for 26 years; 17 as a reserve coach and varsity assistant, he is in his ninth year as the head coach. ‑During his tenure as the head coach, he has had the privilege of coaching 12 All-SAC players, 5 all-state players and 1 Indiana All-Star. ‑His 100th victory as a head coach came on January 6, 2004 against Norwell. ‑The score was 67-58.

Murray is a graduate of Snider High School and Indiana University. ‑He coached basketball for one year at Columbus East High School as an assistant. ‑Since he became the head coach in 1995, Wayne teams have set many records. ‑His 1997-99 teams have the best 3-season records at Wayne High School on a percentage basis winning 51 of 68 games for 75%. The 1997-2000 teams have the best 4-season record winning 68 of 91 games for 74.7% and‑the 1996-2000 teams hold the best 5-season record having won 79 of 112 games for 71%. ‑The team defensive average for the 1997-98 season was a record low of 50.3 points per game and that same team achieved the largest margin of victory of 15.2 points over the course of the entire season. The 1999-2000 team won the SAC championship.

During his tenure at Wayne, Murray also served as the head golf coach and varsity assistant coach in football.
