Sunny and her mom enjoying time together.
To Cindy Cornwell of The Waynedale News from Cindy Nieman,
I’m going to write a few notes about the Cystic Fibrosis Benefit for “Sunny” Madisun Madalinski that was held at the South West Conservation Club on June 28th 2003.

We had 28 days to prepare and no money to get started. Without the promotion from The Waynedale News and help from the other sponsors, we couldn’t have raised money to pay for the benefit or help the Madalinski family with all the added expenses. Our menu was roast pork, roast beef, potato salad, baked beans, and coleslaw. We had bread, chips, pretzels, noodle salad, and various cakes and sweets. The beverages included lemonade, grape drink, Pepsi and beer.

Entertainment was provided by a live band Outta Hand, karaoke, seven clowns from High Hopes Clown Ministry, balloon animals, face painting, moonwalks, Honey Bee and Clifford the Big Red Dog. Free prizes were; silly headbands, ball caps, bug bracelets, helium balloons and bottles of bubbles for the children.

Southwest Allen County Fire Dept. brought a fire truck to show how the ladders, sirens, and equipment worked. When the afternoon became too hot, they sprayed the children with water hoses. We had a wonderful auction w/Larry Martin. All ages of our crowd enjoyed his talent and humor.

We raffled a car, home theater system w/surround sound, color TV w/remote, a 4-10 shot gun, handgun safe, a $100 tattoo by a local artist and cash prizes.

Our door prizes were gift certificates for pizza, doughnuts, Putt-Putt Golf, restaurants, cinema, concerts, FW Childrens Zoo, scuba diving lessons, Science Central, Tokens, & Tickets, florist shops, haircut and style, and tanning sessions.

We had approximately 90 business sponsors. We had help from about 120 friends and family members. We hope to make this an annual event to raise money for Cystic Fibrosis Research.

From Belle Vista/Allendale,

The neighborhoods wish to express their appreciation to the following: The sandbaggers who came from everywhere to help us save our neighborhood from the flood waters, McDonalds in Waynedale who donated drinks for them, and food brought by other people. The people who helped with the clean up and the city people bringing sandbags to the area especially at night and removing the sandbags as clean up operations began. I hope we haven’t left anyone out. All your efforts are so very much appreciated and we thank you.
