WAYNEDALE WOODS AND WATERS
Someone asked me about the name of this column. I started out calling it THE GREAT OUTDOORS but somehow that didn’t sound personal enough for Waynedale. This column should be a place to read about what is happening just in the Waynedale area and nowhere else. We do have a vast area called Waynedale and here you can find places to hunt, fish, picnic, camp, canoe, hike, and discover what nature has provided for us to enjoy.
Right now we have farmers in the area who might be willing to let squirrel hunters, mushroom hunters, and deer hunters use their property if they take care of the area like it’s their own. We have Fox Island, the St. Mary’s River, the St. Joe River, the Maumee River, the Wabash River, and Huntington Reservoir, all within easy reach of us Waynedalers. Anyone wanting to hike, canoe, fish, camp, or hunt can easily do so if they just look around. Still in doubt about where to go? Call me.
I will pass on to you all the outdoor activity information that crosses my desk – all that’s within easy reach of Waynedale that is. I got the name ‘Woods and Waters’ from a column that I read when I was growing up back in West Virginia. It was written by a man named Skip Johnson. Skip retired from THE CHARLESTON GAZETTE and is living, hunting, and fishing on the banks of the Birch River in West Virginia. I just added WAYNEDALE to it and now you know, “. . . the rest of the story.”
