SCHOOL OF BUSINESS AND LEADERSHIP ANNOUNCES WINNERS
The Keith Busse School of Business and Entrepreneurial Leadership at the University of Saint Francis has announced the winners of its second annual student business plan competition.
The first place team was Justin Vela of Roanoke, Indiana and Derrick Shereck of LaGrange, Indiana for their business plan, “Easylessonsnow.” Easylessonsnow is an Internet site that offers quality instructional videos and allows for direct communication with each instructor. Second place went to John “Alex” Jones, Lynn Altevogt, Adam Green, and Jessica Taghon for “Formula for Life” and capturing third place was the plan “Lapel Stick” by Barbara Pagliaro.
Prizes totaled $3,500—$2,000 for first place, $1,000 for second place and $500 for third.
Student plans were judged by professors of business and by members of the Entrepreneurship Advisory Committee. This committee is made up of the following business leaders:
John Becker, President of Advocate Financial, as Chairman of the Advisory Committee
Keith Davis, President, STAR Wealth Management, an affiliate of STAR Financial Bank
Diana Parent, President, Parke Group
Mike Kelly, President, Caliente, LLC
John Faylor, CPA, President, Premier Payroll and HR Solutions
Alan Grossnickle, Assistant Professor and Director of the Entrepreneurial Leadership Center, Keith Busse School of Business and Entrepreneurial Leadership
“Easylessonsnow” will be entered into national competitions. The actual judging was based on the written plan entailing the description of the business, location, marketing, strategy, management, and financials.
