CHRISTINA E. CUMMINGS, 37
CHRISTINA E. CUMMINGS, 37, died Sunday, February 13, 2005, at Parkview Hospital, Fort Wayne. Born November 29, 1967, in Norfolk, Virginia she received her B.A. in History from Greenboro College, Greensboro, North Carolina, in 1990; M.A. in Japanese Literature from the University of Hawaii, Honolulu, Hawaii, in 2000; M.A.R./Deaconess Colluquy Program, in 2003 from Concordia University, in River Forest, Illinois, and had studied at the University of Kansas, in Lawrence, Kansas and Kumamoto University, in Kumamoto, Japan.
Most recently, she had been a Ph.D. in Missiology, student at Concordia Theological Seminary, in Fort Wayne. A naturalist and environmentalist, Christina was also devoted to her work as a translator. During her Deaconess Internship at Walled Lake, Michigan, she completed a translation from Japanese to English of Rev. Shigeru Masaki’s “Christian Life: Six Keys.”
She is survived by her parents Ron and Sue Cummings of Naples, Florida; brothers, Scott Cummings of Fort Myers, Florida and Patrick Cummings of Greensboro, North Carolina; and her grandmother, Frances Volker of Naples, Florida.
Memorial service was Wednesday, February 16, at Redeemer Lutheran Church, 202 W. Rudisill Blvd., Fort Wayne. Arrangements by Advantage Funeral & Cremation Service, 2403 E. Wallen Road, Fort Wayne.
