It was a partly cloudy afternoon, Thursday, September 15, when the Wayne Lady Generals took the field against the Huntington North girl’s soccer team. The Lady Generals are coached by Dusti Bontempo and had a 3 and 5 season going into Thursday night’s game. Ryan Hosler coaches Huntington North.

The Lady Generals play their home games on the field west of the football stadium at Wayne High School.

This is the final year for Wayne’s senior standout Paige Koomler who was the City’s leading scorer during the regular season last year. Paige is joined this year by her sister, a freshman, Dana Koomler who is getting a lot of playing time as a midfield forward. This dynamic duo of Paige and Dana plus the rest of the Lady Generals defeated Huntington North 5-0. Wayne’s Paige Koomler scored 3 goals and teammates Amanda Busbee and Brooke Erler scored one each. Assists came from Koomler, Kristin Alig, Melissa Combs and Erler. Goalie Kristi Capatina of Wayne had 7 saves and Huntington North’s Miranda Louthan had 2 saves.
