MITCHELL’S SPORTS BAR RECREATED

For those of you that remember and frequented Mitchell’s Sports Bar located in the Marketplace of Canterbury, you would agree it was the best sports bar in town. With its amazing atmosphere, food and service it quickly became the new hot spot to go cheer on your favorite teams or gather and dine with your family and friends. It sadly came to an end in an un-imaginable fire in March of 2013 that engulfed the entire sports bar in flames and also caused major damage to Pierre’s entertainment center, just one month after the passing of Stan Liddell, Todd’s long time business partner, mentor and friend.

Todd Smith, owner of Early Birds, Flashback and YOLO Event Center knew one day when the time was right, that he would bring back that once amazing sports bar to the Fort Wayne area for all to enjoy.  Mitchell’s being named after Todd’s middle name was a staple to the city as well as an amazing memory and a big part of Smith’s life. After finding the perfect location in southwest Fort Wayne, Smith knew it was time to recreate that once-amazing sports bar, but this time, it was going to be bigger and better.

The new Mitchell’s Sports and Neighborhood Grill is located at 6179 West Jefferson Blvd. at the corner of Getz Road and Jefferson Blvd. and it is in fact much bigger than the original sports bar, this time seating up to 200 guests.  And, open Monday-Thursday 4pm-close; Friday-Sunday 11am-close. The attention to detail is impeccable, with sports memorabilia from vintage to new and sports-themed quotes placed perfectly from corner to corner throughout the entire restaurant. When walking into the entrance you are welcomed with an amazing wall picturing the Cubs playing at the famous Wrigley Field Stadium. As you enter into the main dining area you see vintage arcade games, basketballs, foosball, pool tables and more for young and old to enjoy!

TVs, you ask? Oh, yes, Mitchell’s walls are lined with over 40 flat screen TVs including a 20-foot big screen TV to enjoy with an amazing state of the art sound system. You would swear you’re at the game! Mitchell’s Sports and Neighborhood Grill is most definitely an amazing sports grill that all ages can enjoy.

On to the menu, Mitchell’s seems to have something to offer everyone from pizzas and wings to gourmet sandwiches and seafood, not to mention Fort Wayne’s only Vegan friendly sports bar offering multiple vegan items throughout the menu. Some of the more popular items are the mouthwatering Canadian Poutine with French fries piled high, topped with slow-cooked pork, a silky white queso sauce and a touch of beef gravy. The amazing wings cooked your way with your choice of baked, grilled or wet is another popular go to menu item. Mitchell’s offers 12 unique house-made flavors for you to choose from.

Looking for something a bit healthier? Mitchell’s has a wide variety of amazing salads including a unique pear and strawberry salad topped with pecans, feta cheese and a house-made poppyseed dressing created by Smith’s wife Kristen. You can also find a seared tuna appetizer, an amazing salmon entree seasoned with Cajun seasoning paired with apple chutney that gives that perfectly sweet and spicy flavor that leaves you wanting more. The pizzas, yes the pizzas are to die for. Choose one of Mitchell’s nine flavor-full pizzas from your classic pepperoni to a signature pear pizza made with olive oil, fresh sliced pears, gorgonzola and mozzarella cheese topped with sliced prosciutto. Mitchell’s certainly has something to offer everyone.

Features? Yes, Mitchell’s has amazing features that everyone loves. Tuesday is Taco Tuesdays with $2 tacos, Wednesday is Half off Pizza, Thursday is 50 cent wings and Friday is Fish Fridays. You can also enjoy an ice-cold pint beer for just $2, seven days a week.

Mitchell’s has weekly live entertainment acts that has been a big draw for that late-night crowd. Check out the line up on the Mitchell’s Facebook page and website at mitchellsfw.com. The Mitchell’s stage has been graced by multiple bands including The Why Store, Bad Advice, Chris Worth, Jon Durnell, Cougar Hunter, Morning After and James and the Drifters, just to name a few.

Todd Smith has out done himself again bringing yet another staple restaurant to Fort Wayne. Mitchell’s Sports Bar and Neighborhood Grill has been voted the cities best sports bar, and if you haven’t been in to check it out, we would say it’s time to go experience the difference!
