JOB ANNOUNCEMENTS HIGHLIGHT GROWING ECONOMY – Straight From The Senate

Recent economic reports show that Indiana’s economy is continuing to grow stronger. Our unemployment rate is below the national average and our labor force participation rate has outperformed the national average for 25 months in a row.

These reports confirm what Hoosiers know to be true – Indiana is a great place to work, live and raise a family.
In the last few months, there have been numerous announcements of companies relocating or expanding in Indiana, providing Hoosiers with more job opportunities.

These announcements are a reflection of how our business-friendly climate is improving the lives of Hoosiers around the state.

Below are just a few of the notable job announcements throughout Indiana since May 1:

In Fort Wayne, up to 64 new jobs will be created by the end of 2019 following Transpoint Intermodal LLC’s groundbreaking on a new $13.5 million cargo transfer facility.

In Bristol, up to 147 new jobs will be created by 2019 with Spartan Fleet Vehicles and Services’ plans to expand operations.

In Fremont, up to 30 new jobs will be created by 2019 with Cold Heading Company’s plans to double the size of its manufacturing facilities.

In Indianapolis, up to 800 new jobs will be created by 2021 with Salesforce’s plans to significantly expand operations in the city, investing more than $40 million over the next 10 years.

In Indianapolis, 160 new jobs will be created over the next few years with PactSafe’s and WDD Software’s plans to expand their operations.

In Batesville, up to 72 new jobs will be created by 2019 with Crum Trucking’s plans to expand operations.
In Princeton, up to 160 new jobs will be created with Toyota Boshoku Indiana’s plans to expand its production operations.

In Richmond, up to 165 new jobs will be created with Blue Buffalo Pet Products’ plans to establish a new manufacturing facility for its wholly-owned subsidiary Heartland Pet Food.

In Valparaiso, up to 20 new jobs will be created following AMKUS Rescue Systems’ relocation from Downers Grove, Illinois.

This success did not happen overnight. For the past several years, the Indiana General Assembly has been working tirelessly to boost Indiana’s business climate by passing measures to lower taxes, cut red tape and encourage competition.

These efforts are being noticed by employers and economic analysts. A survey of more than 500 CEOs from across the country published in Chief Executive Magazine shows Indiana’s business climate ranked best in the Midwest and fifth-best nationwide. We were also ranked number one in state infrastructure on CNBC’s “America’s Top States for Business 2016” scorecard and number eight in Forbes’ “Best States for Business” list.

As your state senator, I will continue to advocate for policies that help to grow our economy and positively impact working Hoosier families.
