YOUR NEWSPAPER CELEBRATES 80-YEAR HISTORY IN WAYNEDALE

In an era of internet and technology, The Waynedale Newspaper enters its 80th year of printing community news and original entertainment for the Waynedale area. On September 2, 1932 the first issue of The Waynedale News, then titled The Waynedale Press, was printed in the garage of editor Arden McCoy. During that time, the community was a separate unincorporated town from the larger nearby city, Fort Wayne. Editor-in-Chief McCoy saw that it was important for the people of the community to know the happenings and latest news, broadcast in newspaper print delivered to every neighbor’s doorstep.

Eighty years later, we continue to hold these beliefs to be true and near to the heart of our growing community organization, The Waynedale News. Our primary mission and goal is to see Waynedale continue to be the greatest community it can be, by not only informing them of the latest news and happenings from around the area, but also by being at the forefront of promoting the area in the most positive light.

Three years ago, Co-owner/Publisher Michael Alberico and I took on the task of updating this historic newspaper as well as a goal to assist in enhancing Waynedale’s business and residential wellbeing. To date, The Waynedale News has been working with various community groups to sponsor, support and give a voice to those who are making positive progress in the area. Our staff members have even taken a personal initiative to volunteer their services outside of the regular workday. If you would like to learn more about how The Waynedale News works with community organizations, please visit www.waynedalerllc.com.

To further our organization’s initiative of lending a hand to the Waynedale public, early on in 2011 we created Waynedale.com. And we are proud to announce that since the creation of this community website, there have been over 2,000 pieces of Waynedale apparel purchased, and over 10,000 copies of the Waynedale.com Visitor’s Guide handed out within and outside the community. This great accomplishment means that thousands of people have been educated about how great this hometown community is and smashes stereotypes that have unrightfully accumulated over the years.

We would like to thank all of our readers for their patronage throughout the past 80 years. With your help, we will continue to see Waynedale prosper in the positive light it deserves. Announce your news to other Waynedale News readers; contact us with ideas, or write a story about your experience of an event, happenings or editorial. And if you love this community let it show! Purchase Waynedale apparel on Waynedale.com and watch as your Waynedale branded t-shirt, sweatshirt or hat encourages conversation about where you live and gives you a spotlight to tell others about how great Waynedale is!

The Waynedale News is proudly published by two of the youngest newspaper owners in the world, Alex Cornwell & Michael Alberico. The Waynedale News is a broadsheet-sized newspaper with 4-color and black & white pages. The newspaper is a free publication distributed to over 35,000 readers, every two weeks, in and around the Waynedale area that provides information to the public about Waynedale events or interests. The continuation of the newspaper is a direct result of community support and local marketing. Throughout the eighty years of operations, The Waynedale News has been a publication that the community accepts and expects.
