OUR BELOVED NEWSPAPER

We, the people of Waynedale, have a great amount of pride and sense of ownership with regards to our community newspaper. Whether it’s me, a publisher piecing together the content, managing staff and figuring out how we’re going to pay for it all, or it’s you, a reader looking for news, editorials, entertainment, or other community information, together it is OUR newspaper.

In a long 79 year tradition, the Waynedale community has learned to expect and depend on the newspaper arriving at their doorstep or available for pickup at local businesses. The Waynedale Newspaper has prided itself on providing free positive information and family entertainment, that many would give credit to the attraction of good, neighborly people here and one of the reasons we still call it Waynedale after so many years.

The Waynedale News in-house staff works hard to present you with a newspaper that is rich with community information you want to see, while providing a great community image to visitors to our quaint hometown. Up to this point, we receive letters and a few submissions every issue, but we know with our 30,000 readers, there are still people who truly enjoy the newspaper and would like to become more involved to help it become even better.

This is a call-out to anyone who has ever thought, “that was a great event, I wish more people knew about it” or “while driving around town, I saw this, I wonder what it is” or “I read something in the paper that I wish they’d change it or I’d like to read about something like …” It is your newspaper and a reflection of the community you care about, make a conscious effort to get in the habit of writing, calling, e-mailing or using www.waynedalenews.com to truly impact your hometown paper.

Indifferent to many other traditional news sources in the area, we feel that allowing all members of the community to influence the articles, news coverage and columnists found within our beloved newspaper makes the publication more interesting for all Waynedale readers. Majority of the articles you read every issue are written by your neighbors volunteering their time to better the community and provide a more enjoyable experience for those who live here.
We are always looking for columnists and one-time stories that you write or would like to write about. Plus, the community wants to hear from you. It doesn’t matter if you’re an expert writer or just someone who would like to contribute to enhance our area, we’d like to hear from you. If you are planning to write continuously or even one time, please contact us so we can send you our “writer’s guidelines,” helpful hints, and make sure the topic can be approved.

Even if you don’t prefer to write an entire article or column, please contact us when you hear of something you would like to know more about so we can investigate, or when you love something in the newspaper, or, if you have ideas on what you would like to see in the newspaper. If you have a news tip, suggestion or idea, it takes just a second to contact us to let us know.

Waynedale, we want to hear from you! Please call (260) 747-4535, e-mail news@waynedalenews.com, send us a letter, or use our submissions page on our website on www.waynedalenews.com. With just a small amount of your time, a little commitment and a positive attitude, we can make great things happen with the Waynedale News that will ultimately impact and better the Waynedale Community.
