ONE QUILT AT A TIME
The Comfort Quilters began with a desire to be of help to those in need of comfort. The group started with two ladies that met in their homes and shared the love of quilting and works of kindness. They soon outgrew their homes and began meeting in the Waynedale Library. They grew even more. The Waynedale Baptist Church so graciously opened their doors as often as the quilters needed. This circle of caring ladies expanded to a group of 15 women involved in a work of love.
The purpose of the group is to meet both near and far reaching needs as well as to promote the love for quilting by providing instruction and helping those with a desire to learn the basics of quilting. Their group has taken 60 pillowcases to a local mission and provided lap quilts for senior citizens. And now they are ready to deliver quilts to local veterans. They have donated many quilts locally and out of state to people of all ages with serious illnesses. During their 2 weekly meetings, the women piece the tops together as laughter can be heard while they learn and grow together in friendship. They have many ideas for other ways to help with community needs as they find the time to accomplish the mission at hand.
Their mission continues to be to create friendships as well as learn the basics of quilting, one quilt at a time, providing those who share the love of quilting with the opportunity to experience the pleasure found in learning and participating in random acts of kindness.
