CHRISTMAS IN THE COUNTRY

The Allen County Fairgrounds invites you to have an old fashioned experience.

So let me tell you about The Christmas in the Country event… December 3, 4, 10, 11 from 6-9 pm.

Imagine if you will a family coming to the Fairgrounds and being greeted from the road with 1000’s of lights. In the trees and on the fences. Twinkling displays through the winding path of 100’s of luminaries lining the way as they come into the main building. This is where they are greeted with the sounds and energy of the Christmas spirit. Grab a bowl of chili and enjoy socializing. Then head on over to “Santa’s Workshop” where there are kids ornaments to make and take home.

Of course there must be glitter… it’s Christmas after all!

And SANTA! You simply must go talk to him and let him know what’s on your list and tell him you’ve certainly been good this year. You can bring your own camera for photos or have a seasoned photographer take your picture for the mantel for a minimal fee. You may also view and vote for the wreath decorating contest entries.

As if that wouldn’t be treat enough, you go out the side doors and get on the horse drawn wagon (weather permitting and hosted by the DeKalb County Horseman’s Association)) which winds you through yet more lights to the show barn where there are many trees decorated by individuals and organizations. These are the entries in our tree decorating contest. YOU the public votes for the winner! There is a nativity scene and live animals to see. Once you have completed your tour, the horse drawn wagons return you through the path back to the main building where you can enjoy more time just…well…enjoying yourself with your family and filling with the Spirit of the season.

All of the wreaths will be sold through a silent auction and may be picked up December 12th.

*All proceeds through free-will donations for the food and judging’s will go towards the Allen County Fairground building Improvement Fund*
