MORE ON THE MITCHELL REPORT

The Mitchell Report has some recommendations for improving the anti-drug education program.

•Presentation to players during spring training on dangers of performance enhancing drugs

•Educate players on alternate ways to achieve similar results without performance enhancing drugs

•Inform players of non-health related hazards of buying drugs

•Display posters outlining baseball’s drug policy

Do these recommendations sound ridiculous? After a ballplayer spends time in Little League, High School, College and Minor Leagues and still don’t know about steroids they never will.

Ball players do not want to spend time at seminars during Spring Training. They do not want to have extra inning games in Spring Training, as there are tie games. It does not sound like their agents are doing a good job of educating their million dollar accounts and it implies (Mitchell Report) that maybe Major League Ball Players are not too intelligent.
