AZAR’S DONATES BUILDING AND CASH TO COMMUNITY HARVEST FOOD BANK
Mr. Alex Azar and his son George have donated the Azar corporate office building and commissary to Community Harvest Food Bank. The facility is located at 1010 N. Coliseum Blvd., in Fort Wayne.
This facility offers Community Harvest Food Bank an additional 33,684 square feet of space, 3,240 of which is freezer space, which will help the food bank better serve the 14,000 separate individuals who seek assistance through the food bank’s network of food pantries and soup kitchens throughout its 9 county service area each week.
In addition to the facility, the Azar’s have also donated $200,000 in cash to help defray the cost of necessary upgrades to the building, bringing the total donation to nearly one million dollars.
This represents the largest single donation in the 24-year history of Community Harvest.
Community Harvest Food Bank of Northeast Indiana, Inc. is the largest food bank in northeast Indiana and the only one affiliated with America’s Second Harvest – The Nation’s Food Bank Network.
