SQUIRREL-LESS BIRD FEEDER
Pat Stuck from Old Trail Road stopped by The Waynedale News on October 31 with a picture of a squirrel-less birdfeeder that her son invented. It is made of an 8′, 4″ x 4″ post, a 4′ x 1″ wooden dowel rod, an 8′ x 4″ diameter PVC pipe with cap, and a few cupboard hooks.
The 4 x 4 corners were cut off the post with a skill saw to form an octagon and the post was sunk in the ground. The PVC pipe was capped and slipped over the 4 x 4. A 1-inch hole was drilled for the wooden dowel at a convenient height for hanging feeders. After the dowel was inserted into the pole, cupboard hooks were screwed into the dowel to support the various birdfeeders.
“It works great,” commented Pat. “They try to climb it, but it’s just too slippery for them.”
