THAT’S THE WAY I SAW IT

COULD IT REALLY HAPPEN

Some strange things have happened in baseball. Is it really possible for a major league team to WIN the World Series and not play .500 ball?

The last week of baseball, the National League Western Division leaders, San Diego, finally reached .500. Had they not reached .500 and they were able to get hot and win a series of games you can see what could happen.

One year an eight-team minor league had all teams playing .500 ball at the end of the first half. I don’t remember how the first half winner was decided. Let’s get more complicated and have four teams in one division all having the same won-lost record.

Since Bud Selig was just quoted: “The fact of the matter is in terms of parity no one can complain.” Parity being the condition of being the same in value.

Look for some strange happenings in baseball’s future.
