THE VOICE OF THE TOWNSHIP

Wayne Township is always looking for ways to expand our services. One of the ways we are doing this is by being involved and finding out the true needs of community. We attain this goal by reaching out to one of the unsung heroes of our community the veteran population. The essential function of the Township is to provide community service. We take special pride in recognizing those individuals for risking their lives for the freedoms we enjoy!

Once again, for the fourth year in a row, we are hosting the Veterans Stand Down and Healthy Cities Health Fair. It will be held on Friday, October 29, between 9:00 AM and 4:00 PM, at the Wayne Township Trustee Office located at 320 E. Superior Street. Healthy Cities provides a variety of health screenings and immunizations to adults who are uninsured or underinsured. In addition to these health services, homeless and near homeless veterans can receive warm clothing, blankets, and meet social service providers that can help them. All participants can take advantage of non-health related services, too, such as the free lunch from 11:00 to 2:00pm, free hair cuts, and free used clothing.

The Northeast Indiana Homeless Task force is a committee comprised of concerned social service agencies and individuals working together to make this event happen. I wish I could list everyone responsible, but space does not allow it. I would like to show my sincerest appreciation for all of the Agencies and volunteers for doing an amazing job of coordinating to make this special event possible!
