COUNCILMAN’S CORNER
Recently I’ve received several calls and e-mails regarding a possible rezoning in the Waynedale area. During those discussions it became apparent that many citizens weren’t aware of how the process really works. If you see a yellow “Public Hearing” sign in your neighborhood, call the 427-1127 number on the sign for information and then discuss the situation with your neighbors. If the rezoning variance is of concern, you and your neighbors should meet as soon as possible to formulate your response. Be well prepared to state your case at the BZA (Board of Zoning Appeals) or Planning Commission’s public hearing; the commission’s decision is the equivalent of a jury’s verdict and is difficult to reverse. Give me a call with any questions!
This is my last chance to use this column to remind you to contact your neighborhood leaders regarding Fort Wayne’s Great American Cleanup on Saturday, May 15th! This is a great time to give your neighborhood a Spring Cleanup. Contact Dawn Richie and her staff at 427-1270 for details.
Recently there’s been quite a bit of discussion regarding problems with our parks. Some parks may need upgrading and that will happen. In the meantime enjoy our great parks and don’t forget to walk or ride our excellent and expanding River Greenway System.
Call me with any concerns or suggestions.
