FLAG PROGRAM WINNERS
On March 16, 2004, a Recognition and Appreciation Ceremony for the ‘Flag Test Program’ was held at David Parrish American Legion Post 296, 130 West Tillman Road. The Post sponsored eight schools. A boy and girl from each school was given a certificate of appreciation and a pen and pencil set with the American Legion emblem on them. Each school was presented a 4’X6′ American Flag and a certificate of appreciation.
Approximately 105 parents and family, teachers and principals were present. The winners were: Haver Hill Elementary-Nicholas Litchin and Leah Denney, South Wayne Elementary-Drew Lewis and Brittany Rodriquez, Unity Lutheran-Jack Klage and Shanon Mackenzie, St. Joseph/St. Elizabeth-Michell Gilbert and Amy Krach, St. Paul Lutheran-John Stenson and Lauren Marinko, Maplewood Elementary-John Voigt and Corean Sanders, St. Aloysius-Noah Rider and Lauren Christie, and Lindley Elementary-Jesse Yoder and Sophie Kobelja. The ceremony was followed by a Pizza Party. The pizza was supplied by ‘Hungry Howies’ located in Covington Plaza.
The Post winners selected will continue on to the district level.
Post Winners
Jesse Yoder and Sophie Kobelja from Lindley Elementary. They will now advance to the State competition, which will take place at the American Legion Convention in July ’04, in Indianapolis.
