HIGH SCHOOL FOOTBALL REVIEW: NORFLEET READY TO TACKLE NEW SEASON

The Waynedale News talked to Elmhurst Football Coach Roosevelt Norfleet on Thursday, August 7th. Coach Norfleet was going over strategies with his coaches and the players were doing their warm-up stretches just prior to their afternoon workout.

Coach Norfleet is in his second year as head football coach at EHS. Elmhurst’s Coach took over a football team that has not won a game since defeating Concordia High School back in 1996. Last year he said, “My goal here is not to come in and try to win a football game. It is to play fundamentally sound football and get better every week”.

Norfleet delivered on that promise last year and although their state record for consecutive loses is in tact, he is optimistic about this year’s program.

There are 45 players, practicing twice a day, in the hot August sun, with high hopes of putting an end to their infamous record.

Elmhurst’s first scrimmage will be against Norwell at 6pm, Friday, August 15th at Norwell.
