Dues are $20 at this time and Life Membership is $150. We have 2003 cards on hand so be an Early Bird and sign up prior to October 31st. This is a Membership Post – cards will be checked during September and October. “Work hard, have fun, and pay your dues early.

POST 33 AUXILIARY NEWS
School has begun, summer is about gone and the auxiliary will be getting back into somewhat of a routine, working on fund-raisers, kitchen duties, helping with the fun events, what with Halloween, Thanksgiving, and Christmas coming up, we know those in the community will need assistance. Attend our meetings on the first Wednesday of the month or if not we will try to keep you informed as to what we are doing here at Post #33. If you can, join in please do so, we always have fun. It is time to think about paying your Auxiliary dues ($20). They need to be paid prior to December 15th for process, otherwise you’ll have to start again as a new auxiliary member, it’s their rules at State. Say a little prayer for our military veterans around the world and God Bless the U.S.A.

Our Spinal Bifida Fund Raiser went well, thanks to all who attended. As for those of us who donated our hair . . . well, it’s cooler and it was for a good cause – the kids. A special “Thank You” to Past Commander Tom Becker for getting the GTO Club involved and to Post #23 in Muncie for their donation – Thanks Guys!

POST #33 FRIDAY NIGHT DINNERS
Dinners will be hosted by: the Sons on the 6th, the Ladies Auxiliary on the 13th, the AmVets on the 20th, and the Jr. Auxiliary on the 27th, with a different entrée to be served each week!
KARAOKE AT POST #33
Come on down to the Post on Thursday Nights and sing & dance with J&R Karaoke from 7:30pm to 11:30pm – Eat Coney Dogs for 75 cents.

LETTER TO THE EDITOR-COMMANDER POST #33
Thank you, members of Post #33, your donation helped enable me to attend the Civil Air Patrol Glider Encampment where I received 4.5 hours of air instruction and 30 hours of ground instruction. During my 4.5 hours of flying, I was instructed in stalls, spins, turns, landings, and takeoffs. I am looking forward to going solo at the advanced encampment, and over the course I learned a lot about teamwork, flying, and myself. Once again I thank all of you at AmVets Post #33.

FLAG ETIQUETTE
(from LET’S BE RIGHT ON FLAG ETIQUETTE – pages 1-1)
Question: May a Flag patch be worn on a jacket?
Answer: No. According to the Code, only members of the military, firemen, policemen, or patriotic organizations may wear a Flag patch on their uniform. Use of the Flag patch on costumes, athletic clothing, or casual wear is inappropriate.
Question: What is the correct way to wear a replica of the Flag as an arm patch on the American Legion uniform?
Answer: By resolution, the Flag patch, when placed on an American Legion uniform, may be placed at the shoulder of either sleeve as long as the blue field is forward. Additionally, no emblem, name or patch shall be worn above the Flag patch on the same sleeve. The decision as to the sleeve on which the patch is to be worn is left to the judgment of the individual, Post or Color Guard involved. This proviso pertains only to the uniform of the American Legion. As the provision of the Flag Code does not specify how the Flag patch is to be worn, any other organizations may apply the Flag patch as they deem appropriate. This includes members of the military, fire, police, or patriotic organizations. (NEC Resolution 38, May 1986)
