KAMPFIRE KOOKIN’ WILD THANGS

You’ve killed your deer, had it processed, and now you had best start using some of it. It will be hunting season again before you know it so just go to the freezer, get out a few packages of deer burger (depending on how much you put in each package) and get busy.

RAY’S WORLD FAMOUS WILD MEAT LOAF

(You can call it ROAD KILL LOAF)

2 – 2 1/2 lbs. deer burger, moose burger, elk burger, or very lean hamburger

1 envelope dry onion soup mix

1/4 cup water

1 cup catsup

2 eggs (beaten)

1 cup dry oatmeal

Garlic powder to taste

Combine ingredients in order given and blend well after each ingredient is added. Shape into a loaf and put into a lightly greased bread loaf pan. Bake for 1 hour at 350 degrees. Drain off any grease that has formed. Cool, turn out onto a cutting board, slice, serve, and enjoy. Refrigerate leftover meatloaf if there is any.

MY FAVORITE MIDNIGHT SANDWICH

2 pieces of white bread (I don’t like wheat bread)

Mayonnaise & horseradish – mixed together

or

Arby’s Horsey Sauce

Slather both pieces of bread with mayonnaise and horseradish on one side. Cover one slice of bread with thick slices of meatloaf and put the other slice of bread on top. Eat, enjoy, take a Pepcid, and go back to bed.
