THAT’S THE WAY I SAW IT
INTER-STATE BASEBALL LEAGUE 1900
The other day I was looking for something in the Encyclopedia of Minor League Baseball when I came across the 1900 Inter-State Baseball League stats. It was very interesting the teams that were in that league.
Dayton Veterans, Fort Wayne Indians, Toledo Mud Hens, Whelling Stogies, Mansfield Haymakers. Columbus Senator purchased by a group from Anderson, Indiana-August 22nd. Youngstown transferred to Marion-August 5th, and The New Castle Quakers.
Fort Wayne (Second Place) beat Dayton (First Place) 4 games to three in the Playoff. The league operated 4-28 through 9-16 of that year.
Jack Glasscock and Joe Hubbard were the managers that year. Jack Glasscock played 17 years in the Major Leagues. He played 1887-1889 with the Indianapolis Hoosiers of the National League that moved to the St. Louis Marrons.
Trivia Question:
Did Fort Wayne ever beat Dayton in a playoff?
